Craft: jewellery class round up

16 weeks of learning is over.  I couldn’t be happier at my decision to sign up for college again.  At the beginning of the course I didn’t really know what to expect or where it would take me.  I still don’t quite know where I’m going to take this new skill or what I’m going to do with the majority of my experiments, but they’re things that are completely made by me.  I don’t think I was this proud of myself when I finished university.

Here we have some textured pieces of metal, a chain, some silver things and some rings.  I would quite like to experiment more with sculpture/general decorative things.  The red kind of colour the copper(?) goes when heat treated is amazing, I’m thinking maybe a candle holder?  Coasters?  Big ‘H’ so everyone knows that what letter my name begins with?  The options are endless.  It would also be nice to do something with the silver buttons I cast.  Pendants seem the obvious option, so I feel like I need to come up with something a bit more interesting.  I’m also looking for an excuse to buy myself a roller so anything that could be done with the textured pieces would be a great step in that direction.

Casting, heat treatments, printing, enameling.  So many new techniques I’ve been introduced to.  Over the summer, I am definitely going to carry on practicing and experimenting with the tools and supplies I’ve treated myself to recently.  Fingers crossed, by the end of the holidays (remember when summer holidays were a thing?) I’ll have some more polished looking final pieces.

Stay tuned!

Much love!
