After a week of intense decorating, I felt in dire need of a bit of girly pampering time and basically doing anything that didn’t involve being up a ladder with a paintbrush. Perfect time for a change of hair colour. The kitchen is getting a revamp so why not my head as well? Blondes may have more fun, but they also get slightly bored and need to mix things up from time to time as well.
Cue my new favourite product. L’Oreal Colorista. This time in denim blue. I have to say I was a little bit nervous about going blue. It’s not a shade I’ve ever thought of before, but it’s only hair, it should wash out and if not I’m sure my amazing hairdresser will just love fixing my mess. Just like the purple and the peach, this product goes on so easily. It definitely helps that I have short hair and the underneath is pretty much gone, I don’t know quite how straight forward it would be with longer locks. Looking at the picture on the box, this wet colour doesn’t seem to be quite as dark, maybe it will develop as it sits?
It didn’t develop any darker. In fact, it is much lighter and brighter than the box would suggest. Another down side to this dye is it stains like mother flipper. I rinsed as thoroughly as physically possible and still ended up with a blue bath, finger nails and towel. Not ideal but not the complete end of the world.
Wow. This is bright. No where near denim blue in my books though. What would anyone else call this colour? I’m not saying I hate it, but I was kind of looking forward to being dark again.
I have to admit, this shade did scare me ever so slightly at first. I still don’t know quite how I feel about it. Five years ago, this colour would have had me feeling all kinds of self conscious. I did feel the need to make my face up before having a paddy and that did help my mood about it. We’ll see how this one grows (or fades). The box says up to 20 washes, but can the box be believed?
