Cross stitching for sanity

Cross stitching for sanity

A couple of weeks back a very good friend was having one of those days where you’re mind turns into a complete asshole and betrays you in every way leaving you feeling like garbage. The mind is incredible but it sure knows how to have a paddy. Her brain was panic stricken and mine was stuck under that heavy black cloud of sadness.

Cue a shopping trip. Stick with me here. Mindlessly wandering round shops that we wouldn’t usually frequent laughing at anything and everything possible and fully accepting our minds taking a little break from functioning seemed like the perfect way to be.

This also lead to a trip to Hobby Craft and possibly the best friend for anyone having a wobbly day and in search of a project that isn’t daunting, expensive or too complicated.

£2.50 gets you everything you need to create your very own little patch. Very clear instructions, all the thread you need, a needle and a square of fabric. So impressed. Even sad brain likes a bargain. If you’re interested, you can find all the options available here.

This process was simple enough not to fry my head any further but involved enough to quiet my mind and create a little calm.

Obviously if any kind of arts and crafts project stresses you out when your brain is on top form, I wouldn’t recommend this at all. If crafts don’t make you want to pull your hair out then I’d say give it a go, what have you got to lose? Your brain needs a little TLC so why not give it something pretty to look at while it is having a time out?

This whole process has also opened up a world of crafting that I’d given up on years ago. There’s a good chance you’ll be seeing a lot more embroidery around the place in the future.

Stay tuned!

Much love!
