Creating any kind of abstract art has been my biggest fear for just about as long as I can remember. For a somewhat creative person, I like rules and order far too much. Then Jenna Marbles came along with an abstract painting video. In true fan girl style, I had to copy. She also linked to another channel called SurajFineArts where I did a little bit of homework on techniques, very inspiring.
Cue a trip to my favourite shop, The Works. Acrylic paints, canvases and pallet knives. Perfect.
Blobs of paints and two directions was my basic plan. This was my favourite technique I had seem in videos and honestly it seemed the least risky option.
I’d been putting off starting this project for quite a while now, the perfectionist in me is always scared of a blank space and the potential to mess it up. I can’t be the only one who gets the pre-project jitters?
I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m in love with this painting, but I’m far from hating it. Actually pretty proud of myself. This could also be the start of a new obsession.
